XCOM - Impossible - Month 1 Part 2. Abduction and Friends in Low Places - High speed playthrough.
So, XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Buy this game. It is awesome.
Read the description for more info.
Anyway, impossible difficulty walkthrough. I'm doing semi-ironman. I save at the start of each battle and only restart if I lose all my troopers. Still hasn't happened, so that's nice.
Second part of the month. First up is an abduction mission in Australia. It's a wide open
map with a fountain in the middle. 12 Sectoids, all over the place. Moving to the flank is dangerous, because they pull the guys from the middle. So I try to pull the middle group first. It works ok. Then to the left, where a pretty messy firefight ensues. I don't really ever get breathing space after that, with each group chaining into the next, and with not much hard cover, it's a scary mission. But, I just about survive. Triple promotions and one injury.
Nothing to do in the base for now, so it's onwards and upwards.
Next up is the first Slingshot mission. This is basically overwatch central. Thin men and a Muton drop in, and there are some Sectoids scattered near the exit, but it's fairly manageable. Pick a flank and advance slowly. The next Slingshot mission SUCKS. You'll see in the next videos.
Back for promotions - everyone gets one so yay, but there are also injuries. Officer Training School and Labs are available too, thanks to Slingshot.
Heavy (Barnes) takes Suppression
Diallo (Support) takes Sprint
Olsen (Sniper) takes Gunslginger
Johnson (Support) takes triple healing.
On the base management side, I excavate a little and build some power in preparation for next month. Satellites complete building and the uplink comes online, so I can stem the panic in the countries that suffered from missed abductions. Beam research completes, so I can get rifles and pistols, which are going to help. A lot.
I put up the officer training school because I want 5 people deployed on missions. That's 25% more firepower! And finally, add interceptors to the continents that will have satellites. Against all odds, I get an A grade, and so we're onto month 2 in the next video!
As always, I'd really welcome tips, feedback and any thoughts. If this is too fast (and I realise it might be) let me know. I'll slow the next ones down.
