XCOM: The Long War Beta 15 won the Viewer's Choice vote, so it's time to strap into the skyranger and get into one of the best mods out there. XCOM apparently wasn't hard enough, because The Long War introduces all kinds of new mechanics, classes, and other goodies to both freshen things up and throw experienced players for a loop. This play through will be on Classic Difficulty since it is my first time seriously attempting The Long War, but I did throw in a few second wave options just to make things more interesting.

This video goes over the game setup as well as the first mission. As you can probably tell from the video icon, this mission wasn't quite as clean as my normal first XCOM missions.

XCOM the Long War is a total conversion mod for XCOM: Enemy Within, a wildly and deservedly popular squad based strategy action game released by 2k and Firaxis Games. A sequel, XCOM 2, is due out later in 2015. In The Long War, you are all that stands between humanity and an alien menace, but with a much longer campaign and refined tech tress and classes, there is a lot for experienced players to bite into, chew, and learn.
