(XCOM:CS Impossible 8) Finishing Gray Phoenix (Backlogging 97)
Yeah, kind of getting sick of my soldiers auto going into awful cover spots after the breach...
Being 1 square away from completing that objective in Plummeting Obelisk hurt my soul. I should've accounted for the poison and scar mobility decreases. There's definitely a pretty big down grade mobility wise on the 2nd action move versus the 1st, which I'm pretty sure is by design. Also, why isn't there an icon for an enemy unit having an empty clip from a Cease Fire grenade/bomb? Would help a whole lot, but asking for good tooltips in an XCOM game is a big ask, apparently.
I guess Praetorians get THREE actions?? Or is the teammate buff a free action? An enemy database would be pretty neat to have in an XCOM game for Impossible/Ironman runs, but again, big ask. Torque seems pretty good against Gray Phoenix to lock down Praetorians, and poison for slowing down Berserkers, which is good info to have for any future playthroughs. That is, when she's not missing 91% chances to Tongue Pull enemies on Wounded Corpse. I think her Bind should make enemies go unconscious instead of outright killing them, but I'll take what I can get.
That dam mission was a bit strange with the Praetorian target hiding all the way in the back on top of a tower. There was a marathon-esque Long War 1 mission that took place along a dam like this that snipers with long shot were awesome for.
Fun fact, lore wise, if you pay attention to the dialogues between the characters and the radio, Mutons are basically alien bears that were engineered by the Elders to have intelligence, so they're much more primalistic, and they all get an assigned cat in City 31 to help them calm down! Axiom used to be a detention center prisoner at Bugtown, where a swarm of Chryssalids broke out, and he helped his captors repel them, which earned him a spot in Reclamation/Chimera Squad!
Plummeting Obelisk is actually a super scary mission name considering we were fighting for species survival against space-faring aliens. Look up Rods From God if you don't believe me. Moon Ritual and Moon Machine in the same episode, hmm. Wounded Corpse is kind of lame. Flame Tiger seems kind of badass though for taking down a major faction.
