(XCOM:CS Impossible 7) I'm Not Addicted To XCOM Again, I Swear (Backlogging 96)
I can feel the complacency seeping in now that my soldiers are doing well. Can't wait for overconfidence to completely backfire on me!
Really wish it would've lit up the objective to let me know my explosive would damage it like it lights up everything else it can damage on Fussy Howl. Don't get me wrong, I love the jank of whatever engine XCOM is on, with goofy realtime physics and ragdoll, and it's ability to somehow not crash after hanging on certain actions, but sometimes the bugs and awful tooltips are absolutely run-ending.
Basically speedrunning through Gray Phoenix at this point. The Viper soldiers and Dominators(not sure if these are GP or just Shrike mercenaries) are a bit annoying, and I don't know how a Dominator getting binded by Torque doesn't stop it's mind control like, say, a flashbang. But GP seems a bit more knowledge based than tactical based like Sacred Coil was. Dragon Rounds are looking to be the big ticket from Sacred Coil since burning also stops most ability usage on top of giving +1 damage to the equipped soldier. Paladins can be used to take out 2 enemies at once when they link up, which has a surprising amount of usage like at 2:28:07 for dealing with the Dominator once Zephyr didn't hit a stun/disorient to break the mind control.
Even more goofy operation names. Jeering Waltz: what is this, a disrespectful traditional dance? Obscure Corpse: are we trying to find some lost tomb on a treasure hunt? Fussy Howl: sounds like someone's pet is hungry! Monstrous veil: ominous! Void Blast: surprisingly straightforward if only psionics were more utilized for the player in this game. Desert Queen: honestly, made me realize there's no non-urban levels in this game like XCOM 1/2. Would've been a nice change of pace! Idle Ember: a lingering ember from a big fire, or one that's about to heat up enough to cause one, who's to say?
