(XCOM:CS Impossible 1) From Humble Beginnings (Backlogging 90)
1Great start. Already wasted $50 on a spare Breaching Charge I'll never use.
I've played a lot of Enemy Within and Long War 1, a bit of XCOM 2 and 1 Long War 2 playthrough, but I never actually ended up finishing a playthrough of Chimera Squad. Something about the first boss having the moving every other turn option like the Chosen did, but I'll persevere. Mostly I'm just happy to be playing a new game, and hopefully the Turn Based Strategy fans are happy I'm playing something more their style. I'm also happy I don't have to worry about activating random pods from XCOM 1/2, though this system has it's own annoyances.
If you're used to XCOM1/2, the biggest changes you'll notice is that you Breach at the start of every encounter, with most missions having multiple Breaches, and you alternate turns with the enemy instead of having your entire squad move all at once. Honestly, it's a bit annoying for managing units and when you get a bad breach cover spawn, but it generally allows the developers to let you have some more power per unit instead of a cohesive unit(late game Blueblood anyone?). I have mixed feelings about the changes, but I'm still enjoying it and think a lot of the hate is overblown. I'm surprised there isn't an XCOM 3 yet, to be honest. What's up with that? Didn't XCOM 2 come out like 10 years ago now?
Honestly, not ideal location for the timer, but does anybody actually read anything onscreen in these games? I'll probably end up moving it at some point. Going to be doing shorter videos since the daily Factorio videos were stressing me out. I was spending like 6 hours a day on average for the daily uploads since I also had to rewatch to make chapters, make thumbnails, descriptions, etc, so this'll work a lot better for me, and hopefully contribute much less stress to my life, lol.
