Xenon Valkyrie is a pretty decent roguelite platformer that does suffer from a fair bunch of flaws. The procedural generation isn't entirely great, and you need to basically be not attacking and facing the correct direction before attacking, which kinda makes it feel...a bit off.

The stretched look is because I tried to stretch it to fit the screen, and that really looks awful. It doesn't help that there's no proper windowed options. The game is also pretty obtuse and I had to learn how to do stuff via trial and error. Why can't I use my ranged weapons on the boss?

The 8-bit aesthetic in both artwork and soundtrack is nice, though. I'd argue that this would still fall behind Spelunky and Caveblazers, ultimately.
