SYNTHETIK is a particularly challenging roguelite game, which...in all honesty, I'm not entirely sure I like how the difficulty is implemented.

For top down shooter games, my ethos is that you typically need to be on the move and firing to avoid damage, but SYNTHETIK completely disregards this ethos and makes your weapons more inaccurate when moving, meaning that to kill enemies, you need to be still, which also means you are more susceptible to damage.

There are some quality-of-life issues with the game. The tutorial could be slightly clearer, but I really hated that the reloading gauge was positioned next to your character. It can be incredibly hard to pay attention to it in a firefight as your eyes will more likely be looking at your crosshair or the enemy.

Once you do get the nuances of the systems down and find ways to work around it, though, SYNTHETIK can actually prove to be a challenging and fun experience. Oh, and one last note - despite its looks, this is fairly graphics-intensive, and the first part of this video might look awful. They've since added in more lower-quality graphic options a few days later.
