Yao-Guai Hunter is the best slay the spire-likes wuxia deck-building game out there in development. It's similar to Slay the Spire in a lot of ways but also introduces a lot of unique mechanics to the game. It might look like it's trying to cash in with the eye candy, but the true colors of the game show through in the mechanics -- it's an authentic roguelike deckbuilder styled after Slay the Spire. I suspect some might say it cuts a bit too close to its inspiration, but while there are abundant very obvious similarities, each of the playable characters has decks and mechanics with more than enough difference from similar games to make them distinct. Personally, I enjoy both the graphics and the mechanics of Yao-Guai Hunter more than Slay the Spire itself (which really should be the case; the innovation was done by Slay the Spire and Yao-Guai Hunter is iterating on the concept) In a lot of ways, this is just an improvement, both visually and tactically, version of Slay the Spire. But trust me, it's got plenty of unique and interesting ideas that will keep you invested. Cant wait for the full release and more development updates to the game. Hope you enjoy my video.
