I'm at a bit of a weird crossroads with this game. At this point, I've collected more than three-quarters of the game's 100 treasures... yet I'm not secure in my capacity to finish the game next time. Given some of the wild challenges that the previous game threw at me, I'm worried that even with a full moveset and much less awkward physics at my disposal, Wario Land 3 still has something evil lurking beneath the surface. Granted, there are at least two levels that I'm already dreading revisiting -- which I only encountered for the first time in this very session. Plus, my next sessions on a Sunday night, so I'm reluctant to push past my usual deadline to see this through to the bitter end.
Regardless, I did manage to beat the game's final boss this time around, so technically, I'm in the "post-game" now. Seeing a proper Game Over screen after so long felt a bit trippy though. It also looks like I won't have to fight the boss again to get whatever reward collecting all 100 treasures yields, either. What's really nice is that the map has since been updated to show you which levels still have treasures that haven't been collected yet... though sadly, I still can't just go to whichever level I'd want, as some treasures unlock new paths in existing levels -- even this late in the game.
KI has recommended using the "hidden figure" to guide my order through the remainder of the game, if only because it seems like it's willing to tell me about levels that I can complete, given my current inventory. That might slow me down a bit, even with the ability to warp back to the north-facing map at will... but I guess it's better than wasting time on a stage I still can't finish yet, just because I didn't grab the green chest in Level E-4. Yet, despite how much more I've been enjoying Wario Land 3 compared to the previous one, going for all the treasures feels a bit less rewarding by comparison.
It's still obviously going to score higher, though.
