Ys IX has been updated to v1.06. There is a new draw distance setting called Lunatic which greatly ameliorates the popup issues, but it will increase the demands on your CPU and GPU. It's not exactly unlimited, but the draw distance is much further.

Getting started with Chapter 6.

If a Grimwald Nox appears, don't complete it until you've done all the possible quests. The GN will advance the story after you clear it. I failed "All That Glitters".
