Ys (Sega Master System) - Palace (Famicom Disk System 2A03+2C33 Cover)
As much as I love Yuzo Koshiro's original YM2203 compositions on the PC-88 for the RPG masterpiece (and especially Ryo Yonemitsu's CD-quality arrangements for Ys 1 & 2 on the PC Engine CD), I absolutely adore Sega's interpretations of Ys' soundtrack for the Master System version. Easily my favorite example is the palace theme, which has a much slower and more somber tone than the original that fits perfectly. In fact, I can just imaging the low melody in that version being played by a cello instead of a square wave. That allusion alone inspired me to take this specific version of the song and bring it to the Famicom Disk System with some Kid Icarus cello. And boy, was I spot on with my vision. I am absolutely astounded at what I've pulled off here, and I sincerely hope you guys enjoy listening to this cover as much as I did making it and listening to it myself (also Ys is the best Master System game ever don't @ me). ^w^
