The Ibur Gang and Stein emerge from the control room, informing Massea that Adol vanished along with Jabir while Niena went to operate the Philosopher's Stone. With the city coming down around them, the group makes the gut decisions to escape while they can so that NIena's efforts don't go in vain. As they pass through the portal to the physical realm, Stein faintly hears Niena's ocarina before Adol shows up, having survived his confrontation with Jabir.

Rizze, having escaped from Philosopher's Stone holding room, finds herself in the underground secret base as Kefin begins to crumble around her.

Outside of the Gate of Kefin, the entire party safely makes their way out as Kefin slowly disappears from existence. As the gate closes, Stein quietly laments not being able to get to Niena, and also comments on Kefin truly becoming a lost kingdom of sand.

Later, back in Foresta village, Willy is shining the pedestal at the town center which is now a statue of a swordsman from 500 years ago. Adol arrives to the village and, bewildered by the statue, and upon reading it learns that it was built as a response to his actions. He and Willy return to Foresta Cave, and there Stoker and Foresta thank Adol for his assistance 500 years earlier, and for showing them the irresponsibility of using alchemy to manipulate time. Stoker also reveals that due to Foresta not being frozen, he was able to use the his bracelet to save Niena in Kefin's last moments. Back in Xandria, Stein is there to meet Niena as she unexpectedly warps back into the physical world, and soon the entire party reunites.

The next morning, Adol unceremoniously leaves Xandria with a final farewell from Niena. The others soon arrive, Willy promising to become as great an adventurer while Terra promising to become Adol's woman. As Adol vanishes in the distance, Stein remarks on the amazing adventurer in his journal, and awaits the day that their paths cross once again.

And that's Ys V. Again, it's fairly standard plot-wise with a few interesting bits thanks to Stoker's story and the setting for the second half of the game. While there's probably a lot more that could've been done with the time traveling aspect, it's pretty unique as far as this series goes. It's also unique in that it doesn't connect much to the overall lore (though the PS2 remake actually does), but that's not necessarily a bad decision: it's similar in that respect to Ys Seven, and hey Terra does come back in Ark of Napishtim (cough https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FCkCSgiHT0&list=PLA4ED60603C7A2E67 ) so that's something! The game indeed suffers from being painfully easy, but that's what the Expert version was made for. If I can hunt down a completed save file I'll most likely be running through the time attack in Expert mode, as I only know a bit about the changes made in it concerning bosses. Until then, all that's left is the magic which will be in a separate video, so thanks to all that watched/came across this!

Also I really want to extend a huge thanks to the folks at Aeon Genesis for finishing this game. Apparently the programming itself was really really horrible and so much as a cool summer breeze would make this game crash. I can't imagine getting around the issues with getting this game presentable, but kudos to them very much for getting this once-lost game to the fanbase. Now here's hoping it gets a remake after Ys VIII comes out...
