Don't let the lack of a big health bar trick you this is in fact a boss.

I'm not sure if he has one phase or two because he only ever seems to use jump or perilous attacks once he's below 75% HP. Either way it doesn't matter too much because Gunnal is gonna wreck your life if you aren't careful. Those lance charges go all the way across the arena, the jump attack has a slow start but very quick finish, and his perilous attack is thinking hard about one shotting you. Also he can slash with a lance for some reason.
Gunnal wouldn't be too bad under most circumstances but even without a shield this is an endurance fight because he has both the highest HP, over 48000, an defense out of any opponent we've faced so far and when combined with the high attack stat you can tell this fight is going to be a marathon.
