Ys X Nordics Boss 20: Yolds Dolnsen (End of Chapter 5)

Yolds is back for a rematch and we finally get a proper boss fight with one of the three Grieger... Generals? Royals? whatever. Don't expect your knowledge from the previous fight to help here since she no longer has mooks and instead of only having two attacks she now has so many you won't see them all in a single fight... also her AI can sometimes decide to whip out her ultimate attack during the first phase even though normally it's reserved for the final phase.
Speaking of which the fight has 3 phases.
Phase 1 is when she has her armor and mostly she'll stick to her poison slash, a twin slash, some throwing knives that can be redirected, and most notably she can do a teleport slash that has an audio cue telling you when to block... but sometimes she'll decide to throw in her perilous attack that's normally reserved for phase 3... I'll talk a bit more about those when we get there.
Phase 2 has her start using her blade wings which act like a follow up to her regular slashes sorta like slave knight Gael from Dark souls 3. But she'll also start throwing in sword beams, a full arena length thrust as a perilous attack that I suck at parrying. And she has the ability to send out dark flames that'll cover part of the arena and linger for a long time... or she may do an electric beam that does basically the same after effect, I fought her like 9 times and only saw this attack twice.
Phase 3 now has her wing blades following up all of her sword slashes meaning the regular, poison, and even the teleport slash all have a follow up. This is also where she's mostly likely to bust out her ultimate attack which is a series of rapid slashes before thrusting into the ground and sending out energy waves in 4 directions. If you perfectly parry that thrust at the end however you'll do a ton of damage with one of the coolest counters in the entire game... but be warned sometimes she'll whip out a slight weaker version of this attack as early as phase 1 and by slightly weaker I mean it's still likely to kill you. On top of that she'll actually make use of her mana attacks mid combo so you can't just block spam and actually need to pay attention.
This fight is hard and with the ability to poison, paralyze, or whatever the dark flame effect is proc it's just going to become an even rougher fight. Thankfully this battle should only last around 3-4 minutes once you get a successful run but the challenge is getting that successful run. This is the hardest boss fight up to this point in the game.
STORY STUFF: Uhhhhhh... Yolds is an asshat? I don't really have much to add for this cutscene other than she holds a grudge with Karja for injuring her wrist and more importantly scarring her face. She debates turning you into her slaves but at the same time would also just like to kill you... and if you continue to try and reach Lira all that awaits you is pain and suffering.
