In 2004 Machine Works Northwest llc created a version of Duke Nukem 3D for Tapwave Zodiac. Despite being a completely new game, with only sprites borrowed from the original game, it was a perfect way to play your favorite old game on the go.

There are 21 levels inspired by the original PC game. The locations include streets, the strip club, the cemetery, mansions and other locations recognizable from the game. Levels are short and square in design.

In 2005 Duke Nukem Mobile 3D was released for Verizon's BREW feature phones. It featured the possibility to use either sprites or polygonal 3D models for enemies, where the phone's hardware handled such atrocity. Due to file system constraints, the game was divided into several sections, which were downloaded by replacing the previous one. This version used Hi Corporation's Mascot Capsule software rendering 3D engine.

A port was also released in 2005 for the supported JAVA (j2me) phones.

An enhanced version based on Ripp3D software rendering 3D engine was supposedly released in 2006 and is demonstrated here. It had all the levels collected in one set, whereas phones could handle to store this amount of data at that time. It also has a new set of levels Depth of Evil and a survival mode.

There also existed a multiplayer version Duke Nukem Arena - released in 2007 for BREW, which had a wireless multiplayer free-for-all multiplayer mode for up to four players added to the above. One could choose from three characters such as Duke, Pig Cop and Paratrooper.
