This is video #15 in my playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX for the GameBoy Color. This video does not contain commentary. To view the commentary version, click here: https://youtu.be/cIwN4G4x7Wo

Previously, Link completed Level 7: Eagle's Tower in the northeast of the Tal Tal Mountain Range, upgraded his sword, and made his way west to the entrance to Level 8. Time now to explore the game's final dungeon.

To get inside Level 8: Turtle Rock, Link must play the Frog's Song of Soul in front of it (time 0:18). The turtle head comes alive, and it's hostile! However, rapid sword slashes will take it out quickly. When the head goes kablooey, it leaves the dungeon entrance open.

Link heads on into Level 8: Turtle Rock (time 0:49). This dungeon is not much like its namesake. It is a large, sprawling place. Take care not to fall in the lava. Link will encounter the Mini-Nightmares from most of the previous dungeons in here.

North, west, and north, Link will encounter Hinox from Level 2 again (time 1:28). His sword beams will make short work of this guy. An interesting puzzle is in the room to the west. This first one is the easiest. When Link touches the moving block, it will respond to the D-pad and fill in the gaps in the floor. When the floor is filled in, it will leave a chest containing 20 Rupees.

To the south, another chest contains 50 Rupees (time 2:14). The room to the west houses the Rolling Bones from Level 1. Pitifully easy now. To the north of there, Link can defeat an Ache to get a Small Key.

To the south of the Rolling Bones's room, Link can open a chest for the Compass (time 3:18).

From the room north of the entrance, Link heads east next (time 4:14). The switch that opens the doors is under the northwest pot. In the room to the south, Link goes down a stairway after defeating the Arm-Mimics.

Link emerges from the tunnel in the east of the dungeon (time 5:11). The switch is under the pot south of the Beamos. A rematch with the Smasher from Level 6 is in the room to the south.

South from the Smasher's room, a chest contains the Stone Beak (time 6:17). Link goes down the stairway in this room (time 7:28). This leads to a side-view tunnel with lava and more Mario foes, Podoboos.

On the other side, Link surfaces in a south-central room (time 7:44). After blasting through to the south, he grabs the Map from a chest.

After backtracking, Link goes west from the Smasher's room (time 9:34). There is an intermediate puzzle to fill in the floor here. A Small Key drops in when the floor is repaired. Also, there is a bombable wall to the north. The room beyond contains a switch to strike. Link can then blast through to the west. Then, he goes up the southern ladder and south.

The chest in the room to the south contains a Green Zol (time 10:28). Too easy!

In the room north of the entrance, Link goes north (time 10:59). Then, he goes east. He has to direct the block northeast so he can push the lower-right block in the W-pattern aside and go north past it. After opening the lock block, Link goes east. Past the locked door, he enters a room with pots in a reverse-N pattern and a stairway.

He heads through to the north to a room full of cracked blocks (time 11:41). Be sure to fill up on Bombs if needed. The northern door opens when all the Green Zols are defeated. In the room to the north, two Gibdos roam a cracked floor. Keep moving! Defeating them causes a Small Key to drop in.

In the room to the west, Link finds Dodongo Snakes from Level 3 (time 12:27). There is no real need to attack them yet because the chest they leave behind will be unreachable. In the room to the west, Link goes north and grabs a Secret Medicine from the chest (time 12:59). Plenty of refills are on the eastern floor of this room. To the north, Link ascends a starcase.

On the other side, he goes back down to the room with pots in a reverse-N pattern (time 13:44). He goes through the Dodongo Snake room and continues west through the locked door (time 14:47). He goes two rooms west.

After beating the enemies, he climbs the stairway, which leads outside (time 15:08). He is now in the far northwestern corner of the world map. On the bluff above, he finds Piece of Heart #12, the final Piece of Heart in the game. One more completed Heart Container!

On the screen to the east, Link finds the game's last warp hole (time 15:50). Now, he can warp freely between Turtle Rock, Tal Tal Heights, Animal Village, and Mabe Village.

Another entrance to Turtle Rock is on the next screen to the east (time 16:23). This leads to the balcony above the Dodongo Snakes. Now, Link must feed the foes bombs from above. Defeating them will reveal a chest with a Small Key on the balcony. It helps to trap them in the narrow passageways.

Description continued in the comments.
