This is video #14 in my playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX for the GameBoy Color. This video contains commentary. To view the non-commentary version, click here: https://youtu.be/Ty42toR25cY

Previously, Link revived the Flying Rooster in Mabe Village and found the entrance to Level 7 high in the northeastern Tal Tal Mountain Range. It is now time for him to climb this dizzying spire.

So, Link enters Level 7: Eagle's Tower (time 0:19). This dungeon sort of reminds me of the Tower of Hera in A Link to the Past, but this place is more challenging. Level 7 is comprised of four levels, and navigation is complicated by crystal barriers.

The southeast room on the first floor has a Small Key that drops when the two Like Likes are beaten (time 0:38). This will allow Link to go through the door and go up to the second floor.

On the second floor, Link will find an iron ball (time 0:57). He must drag this iron ball around and destroy several pillars on this floor. If he drops it into a pit, it will return to this room. The first pillar to destroy is in the room to the west.

Another crystal switch is to the south (time 1:38). Link takes the iron ball to the west, where there is a pillar that cannot be reached yet.

To the northwest, Link will find a Three-of-a-Kind set (time 2:11). Defeating them properly will reveal the chest with the Compass.

Directly to the east of this room, there is one with two Horsehead statues (time 2:49). So annoying. If Link finally gets them both to stand up, the chest with the Map will appear.

Link then heads downstairs from the Map room (time 3:15). After tripping a switch to the southeast, he heads west, west, and south. He locates the chest containing the Stone Beak (time 3:52).

Then, he consults the owl statue in the northeast of the first floor (time 4:34). After tripping the switch again, he returns to the first stairway he used to reach the second floor.

He can now reach the treasure chest amid the crystal fences (time 5:05). It contains the dungeon treasure, the Mirror Shield L-2! This allows him to block beams, most notably Beamos beams. After collecting this, he drops down the hole to land on the upper wall on the level below.

Then, to the north, he finds a chest containing a Small Key (time 5:29).

South and west, he goes up the stairs to the third floor (time 5:59). On the third floor, he goes north to a busted-up bridge and then east. Then, he finds the Mini-Nightmare, the Grim Creeper. Grim Creeper will summon a swarm of Battle Bats to attack Link. All Link has to do is defeat a full swarm, which can be done from the northeast corner. The Creeper will flee afterwards.

In the Spark-filled room to the north, after pushing the two blocks together, Link will find the Nightmare's Key (time 6:50). So soon!

The rest of the floor looks like a disaster area, so Link goes back down to the second floor (time 7:41). In the southwest room, he will find another Hinox. Defeating it yields a Small Key.

A couple of screens to the north, there is another room with flying tiles (time 8:50). These will leave holes behind. The eastern door will open when they are all deployed.

In the room to the east, Link will finally be able to knock down this room's pillar if he left the ball here (time 9:14). Afterwards, Link knocks down the pillar in the room to the east and south. Then, to the south, Link throws the ball over the barrier.

After dropping downstairs, Link ascends the western stairway (time 10:35). In the Hinox's room, he drops down a western hole to reach the raised western walkway on the first floor. This will let him reach the chest with Secret Seashell #26 in the far northwest corner (time 10:57). Yay! This is the last Secret Seashell in the game.

Link then goes up the western stairway to the second floor again (time 11:20). South and east, he defeats the Three-of-a-Kind to make the chest in the northeast of the room appear. Then, he takes the ball from where he left it in the room to the east, brings it back, and throws it over the gap to the north.

Circling back around, Link endures the flying tiles again (time 11:56). Then, in the next room, he blasts through the southern wall between the two torches. After passing through a narrow corridor, he will reach the chest where he had defeated the Three-of-a-Kind (time 12:37). After Hookshotting across, thanks to the chest which contains a Bomb, he hauls the ball into the room to the north and knocks down the last pillar. This causes part of the tower to collapse so that he can now reach the top.

Description continued in the comments.
