Hello! Hope everyone is well and safe. As I continue to work on the Zero Escape Medley - Part 2, I thought I'd do an arrangement of a piece requested by quite a few people. Monitors (or Quondam Monitors) is the puzzle theme for the Security Room from Virtue's Last Reward. It was also remixed in Zero Time Dilemma for the Control Room puzzle. The remix incorporates cool new elements like a soaring string part. I focused on that quite heavily in this arrangement and really wanted to bring out the violin.
There are quite a lot of interesting techniques used as well as original sections in this arrangement so I won't go into too much detail here, but I incorporated two physical instruments in this: I used a hardware Behringer Arp Odyssey for some of the really intense synth sounds and I also had a lot of fun recording a glockenspiel! I am thinking of doing a 'behind the scenes' at some point as I experimented a lot with my guitar, synths and the glockenspiel.
It wouldn't be an EF arrangement without a reference or two to other pieces. There are two in this. One is a very noticeable reference to Morphogenetic Sorrow played by the glockenspiel in the original section. The second, in the beginning of the same section, is a very very subtle reference to Unary Game from 999 (created by recording and reversing a sine wave).
