In this video, Zynaps, released in 1988 for the Atari ST by Hewson.
If there's a genre of games the ST (but also many platform of the era) had in abundance, this genre is the shoot'em up and Zynaps is just another one, a side-scrolling good looking shoot'em up from Hewson. This time we pilot the Scorpion, a nice ship equipped with lasers and upgradeable with missiles and bombs. By collecting the bonuses that the waves of enemies leave on the space when you kill them, you can long-press the button until the low part of the screen flashes and upgrade the scorpion. For a 1988 game Zynaps has a smooth scrolling, nice detailed graphics, good audio but IMHO it's a bit slow-paced, the main sprite is too big meaning you can easily crash into the background and the difficulty is not optimized,
