In this video, Kick Off with expansion: Extra time, released in 1989 for the Atari ST by Anco.
In the '80s the typical soccer's game had the ball glued to the sprite controlled by the player or controlled by the AI. In Kick Off the ball wasn't sticked to the player's feet but instead was kicked ahead of the sprite and this added a degree of difficulty that wasn't common in games like this and the players had to become skilled with this kind of controls in order to win matches. In addition the programmers added other rare in-game features like different tactics, fouls with yellow and red cards, injuries, injury time, duration of the match, different referees with different moods.
The graphics of kick off are very simple, a long green field with some white stripes to delimit the playing area. The few sounds you can hear are well digitized and accurate. What shines in this game is the playability. Kick off is fast, addictive, once you master the controls, you can do tricks, fool opponents and other little things. I remember, back in the days, tournaments with sponsors were made here were I live; people playing with their modified joysticks or standard ones like the Konix speedking or the Albatross. Those were the first e-sports attempts outside the console ones.
Here you'll find loading screen with a digitized stadium chorus and an entire match which I obviously don't win.

All footage taken from original hardware machines and upscaled to 1080P.

Let me know what do you think about the video in the comments below but, most important, Enjoy!!!
