Сантака 002 (Santaka): Part 1 (A Belarusian Speccy Clone)
36This is the very solidly built (weighs 2kg) Santaka Model 002, a clone of the ... {drum roll} ... ZX Spectrum. It seems to have been built in three locations: Lithuania, Belarus and in Russia (as the "Impulse"), depending on what you read.
This example came from Belarus and so I believe is a Minsk-built version.
Seems to have the "brand" БЕЛВАР (BELVAR) ... something related to Belarus?
The name "SANTAKA" itself ... ? Seems to come from Lithuania (village name), but is also a type of Japanese chilli pepper.
Quite impressed with the built quality. Keyboard is not really a touch-typist's dream but is well built.
It has mainly Russian/Soviet parts, except for the Z80 ... a genuine Zilog part! All parts seem to be date stamped 1991, and the overall build date is 1992.
As with all Soviet micro designs (it seems), everything is DIN including the power input. The power input uses the same 5-pin DIN as the Moldavian BYTE but the pinout appears different - still just GND and +5VDC though.
The power supply was included ... and is also a beefy, well built hunk ... 220VAC in and 5VDC out. I'll get to that in a future video, so will build my own power cable in the interim.
The RGB output uses a 5-pin DIN vs. the 7-pin DIN (includes audio) of the BYTE. I'm assuming it's a pretty standard pinout, but will need to confirm.
Unfortunately I don't have any documentation so will need to figure things out - there are photos online that show the documentation comes with a schematic (common for Soviet electronics) ... sorely needed in this case as the tracks for the video output board are mostly cut ... weird.
The 16KB of ROM is comprised of eight ceramic 2KB EPROMs (КС573РФ2) labelled 01.01 to 01.08, and there are three FPLAs labelled 01.09, 01.0А and 01.0Б (Р556РТ1).
