Sega SG-1000 II + SK-1100: Part 1 (Intro)
The SG-1000 is the games console version of the SC-3000 computer ... "Sega Game" and "Sega Computer".
Similar to some other consoles before and after, it's possible to add a keyboard (the SK-1100) and use the console as a normal computer as it even includes cassette and printer I/O ports.
The usual Level II/III BASIC won't work on the SG-1000, so the keyboard comes with "HOME BASIC", an upgraded version of BASIC Level IIIB but with half the RAM (16Kb instead of 32KB). I wonder if it's possible to upgrade - crack open the cartridge and replace the RAM chip?
Anyway, first thing ... try to get video output from it. The standard output is an (NTSC) RF modulator, so I'll try to convert that to composite. I'll also replace the linear regulator and large heatsink.
I noticed also on the board pins for R/G/B and CSYNC ... so maybe RGBS output is also possible?
Note that this is an SG-1000 II (Mark 2) that uses Sega's own 315-5066 video chip and not TI's TMS9918.
{Yes, yes, just Google everything and I'm sure it's all been done before ... but I find trying to figure these things out first a good exercise}
Oh, and I'll give the case a wash overnight.
Power input is 9VDC, 2.1mm plug, centre negative.
