Why limit yourself to a single meal or two when you're offered the option of choosing tens of them? Yes, this is precisely the lot of death row inmates who are given the last opportunity to choose their last meal. While some ditch that opportunity aside, others take full advantage of it in a way we don't quite understand. These are the ten weirdest last meal requests from death row inmates.
10. Ricky Ray Rector
Ricky Ray Rector was put to death in Arkansas by lethal injection when he was 42. He was charged and found guilty of two counts of murder. When asked what he'll eat before his execution, he stated that he wanted a steak, fried chicken, pecan pie, and cherry Kool-Aid. He left the pie on the side of the tray, telling prison officers who came to take him to the execution chamber that he was saving it until later. Until today, no one understood what he meant by saving it for later since it was supposed to be his last day on earth.
The slice of pecan was later disposed of after Rector was executed. Reports say his unusual last meal request was due to brain damage caused by his suicide attempt while in incarceration. In 2002, the United States Supreme Court banned the execution of people with intellectual disabilities. It is unclear if this would have applied to Rector because he had committed two murders before his brain damage.

9. Steven Michael Woods Jr.
Steven Woods was sentenced to death after a jury found him guilty of murdering a young man and wife suspected to be drug dealers. In 2004, he had it up to his neck and decided it was time to fight for prisoner rights. By 2006, he was actively involved in the activism against the poor treatment death row inmates suffered at the hands of prison authorities. He joined a hunger strike in Polonsky to oppose the treatment.
Many philosophers and critics saw reasons with him, and even Amnesty International supported his stance. Woods' criminal case was reported locally and internationally. His final motion for a stay was denied on September 2, 2011, days after being executed by lethal injection. His last meal makes you wonder what on earth he was thinking about in his remaining few hours. Here is the menu: large four meat pizza, two pounds of bacon, four fried chicken breast, two pints of ice cream, five chicken fried steaks, fries, a dozen garlic breadsticks with marinara on the side, and two drinks each of Mountain Dew, Pepsi, root beer, and sweet tea.
8. Timothy McVeigh
Timothy McVeigh is the terrorist behind the famous Oklahoma bombing that claimed 168 lives and injured 680 others. It was the deadliest attack on the sovereignty of the United States before the September 11 bombing. He stated that his motivations for his actions were his political grievances, white supremacist ideology, paranoia about gun control, and anti-government sentiment. To date, it remains the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in the US. After he was apprehended, he was tried and found guilty of 168 counts of murder. He stated that He was put to death by lethal injection at the age of 33.
Four years before his 2001 execution, Congress passed a law prohibiting McVeigh, a Gulf War veteran, from being buried in the military cemetery. Till he died, he didn't feel remorseful about his actions. Regarding the children that died in the explosion, he maintained that it was normal for kids to die every day. He asked that he be served two pints of mint chocolate chip ice cream for his last meal. This ice cream for the last meal sounds like something a child would demand as a birthday meal. The request is contrary to the warrior image he worked hard to protect all these years.

7. Angel Nieves Diaz
Angel Diaz was tried and put to death in Florida by lethal injection at the age of 55. He was sentenced to death for armed robbery, kidnapping, and murder even though he claimed innocence until death. He didn't request a meal and was served the regular prison dish comprising shredded turkey, rice, cheese, tortilla shells, pinto beans, apple crisp, and iced tea. Like someone who feels wrongly accused of the crime, he didn't eat the meal and went ahead to be executed on an empty stomach. His last statements reiterated that the state of Florida was killing an innocent man and that it was cowardly.
