#1141 Mortal Kombat X (Steam) Bosses (4/7): Sindel gameplay.
Gameplay of the unplayable character/NPC/Boss Sindel in the Steam/PC Port of Netherrealm Studio’s Mortal Kombat X.
[Sindel has no X-Ray nor fatalities, but she can used enhanced moves]
Sindel’s moves:
Qcf + FP: High Fireball (also has an aerial version)
Qcf + BP: Banshee Scream
Qcf + FK: Low Fireball (also has an aerial version)
Qcf + BK: Somersault Kicks
TOO BAD, YOU. WILL DIE.
Sindel is basic as hell here. Indeed, all four NPC characters are, not even having X-ray attacks, fatalities or brutalities, but luckily they are able to use enhanced attacks. The ones returning from MK9 are even missing special moves.
Sindel has a few combos here, but they’re pretty basic. What she does have is…well, not unplayable to any extent, but it is basic. A high and low fireball, which can also be used in the air; a scream stun attack, and a rolling kick combo, which can be worked into what few combos she does have. It’s a pretty basic set-up on the whole, and playing as her more or less devolves into extending rather forced juggles as best you can, as her offensive moves are usually combo-enders and her scream attack is pretty useless, being quite delayed and having very little in the way of actual range. She doesn’t feel very finished here, and I have to wonder whether she was intended to be an NPC/boss from the start, or whether they just gave up working on her half way through and just decided to make her an NPC instead. Regardless, I still enjoyed playing as her, because in a game as extensive as this getting to play as otherwise never playable characters from the MK series is a bit of a blast, I can’t deny. Such iconic characters reduced to these weird half-finished states; it’s jarring, but intriguing at the same time. Although she’s important to the story, I still find Sindel a bit on the underrated side, and I’m glad she got to make an appearance even if it was in this state.
Lastly, holy fuck, those facial corruptions during the win screen. Not quite as hilarious as Kid Kazuya in Tekken 7, but it’s definitely up there.
Next up, Baraka
