12 Is Better Than 6 Let's Play Part 22 Finale - Not According to Plan
Ending this let's play series on Leap Day isn't exactly fitting, but the game has enough perplexing features to it that I approve of this coincidence. The good features would have to be the control and combat, once I got used to it. Having to reload and cock the guns every time was annoying, but it fit the time period of the game.
The bad would have to be the story. Though I wanted to be invested in the characters, the only one that got regular screen time was the protagonist. He was too negative and unredemptive to support and want to guide to victory. Perhaps if he had a greater motive for his actions it would have helped, but even a cheesy, white men killed my family backstory wouldn't have quite worked. The ending is also disappointing because he doesn't go down in a blaze of vengeful glory or vindication, he basically goes out with a whimper.
The ugly would stem from the game's poor choices with stage layout, which could make for rather cheap and frustrating scenarios. Placing you beside several enemies right near the beginning of a new area, with either a weapon or ammo restriction, meant you could be stuck retrying that area numerous times before you get everything to work out right for you.
