$1.40 Fidget Spinner vs $140 Fidget Spinner
Ever wonder why hand spinners are so expensive? The $140 brass Torqbar ( http://www.torqbar.com/ ) vs the sub-$2 AMILIFE ( http://amzn.to/2vhW5E1 ) fidget spinner.
This is a brass Torqbar Solid Body vs the metal (who knows what kind of alloy) AMILIFE. The AMILIFE is the cheapest metal spinner sold today. It's available at all sorts of resellers for very low prices. The Torqbar is much smaller and more expensive, plus it's really hard to get your hands on one, even if you are OK with buying a used one on Ebay (etc) and spending well above retail.
One funny advantage to the AMILIFE, aside from the price is that it won't tarnish/patina. The Torqbar does patina (because it uses real brass) so it has a sort of used, grimy look to it. Maybe you love this, maybe you hate it, but it's worth nothing.
I can't really judge one way or another: the Torqbar has an excellent build quality but it's expensive and almost unattainable. The company's recent drops have sold out in under 10 minutes, so they are all but useless. The AMILIFE has serious problems, but as an entry level spinner it's tough to beat. I personally prefer the plastic Spintech trispinner to the AMILIFE, but that's just my preference.
I've heard about people doing AMILIFE upgrades, specifically to the bearings and caps, but haven't seen any of them (Please link!). I'm not sure it's worth investing money in this spinner when you can get a much nicer copper one for around $15, but there are upgrade options. The Torqbar can get larger or different caps, but after that there aren't a lot of upgrades because the bearing is pressed inside.
