1854: Wizard Fire / Dark Seal II \\ Elf (mostly) playthrough! Steam ROM in MAME! Gate of Doom sequel
0Playing through Wizard Fire (aka "Dark Seal II" in Japan) as mostly the Elf, using the "wizdfire.zip" ROM placed in an install directory of the Steam game "Retro Classix: Wizard Fire," running in MAME 0.119 (2007--the last 32-bit MAME, accepts just about any ROM) from the Windows 11 command line! It's the sequel to Gate of Doom, also in Retro Classix.

Didn't manage to figure out until the ending that the elf is a girl. ^ D^ Her name is Eminna Jozestore. They got rid of the ninja from the first game and added her and the dwarf, Jade Greataxe. And they changed the bard's name from Riger Hawk (which KIND of ruled) to Hark Riger! = p These names! ; D
The game plays a LITTLE better than the first game, SOMEtimes. But there's still very little feedback or feel for what you're doing, and a tendency for having a lot of enemies swarming around way faster than you can move. Oh and they still haven't really figured out how to handle hit and hurt boxes on tall monsters: you get hit just moving "behind" them, and to hit their heads from the side--noticed this specifically with the twin golems--you have to be standing level with their head, ie well "north" of the position of their feet!
