The Ghosts 'n Goblins boss' hit box is sooo deceptive; you aren't actually hurting him, although it sounds pretty much like you are, until you hit him with a weapon--shield, anyway--thrown JUST before you land from a jump, in this extremely narrow invisible vulnerable zone like, on his lower brow or something. Makes no sense, just takes peoples' quarters. ; P
BUT still you could say while that doesn't make sense and is way too hard to figure out and how would anyone actually figure it out really unless they looked it up on YouTube like me or had someone standing there in the arcade to tell them...but it maybe technically isn't cheap, per se. But in Ghouls 'n Ghosts they'd apparently figured people would put up with any sort of abuse after the previous game was a big hit, so NOW they are definitely doing cheap stuff, like having the planks of a bridge break without warning and drop you to your death in a giant ant lion pit. Fuuuuuuuuun. Hrrrr. Ehh well we'll see how bad this gets...
But you don't get stuck at the top of the ladders in Ghouls, so that's a relief! It also seems to move a bit faster in general.
