The result of a little tournament where this run got first place. The run is incidentally also a no-miss.
Often called one of Capcom's finest produced shmups, 19XX has you fighting enemies with charged shots where hitting them with it will result in you firing fast homing projectiles at them to damage them further.
Furthermore every bomb has three levels of effectiveness depending on how long you hold the bomb button.
In order to score well the most important factors are S-ranking bosses by beating them within the time limit and having a 100% destruction rate for stages as this will increase your end-of-level multiplier.
The stages furthermore are usually filled with little scoring tricks like killing a red plane first will make it drop more medals and so forth.
It's impossible to get a 100% destruction rate on stage 5 and 6 though, in those stages your goal is to get at least 95% or higher as that will give you a 4 star multiplier.
Power-up value also keeps increasing until 80.000 points an item so it's worth a significant amount to keep collecting the same power-up and to not die.
The stage 2 popcorn rain and the stage 5 tank factory are among the hardest parts of the game. It's super easy to miss an enemy on the stage 2 rain and the factory is difficult to execute and optimize properly as accidentally killing a wrong tank or killing a tank row too late will result in everything messing up.
The final boss is also harder than everything else in the game combined.
The biggest mistakes in this run where accidentally killing a train too early in stage 5 resulting in me missing the 95% bonus and using a couple of unintended bombs. Picking up the laser weapon during the final boss was also not intended.
