2002 Atlanta EA Sports 250cc Supercross Championship (Round 8 of 16)
This is round 8 of the 2002 EA Sports 250cc Supercross Championship from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA. This is the 3rd of only 9 races from 2002 that I have.
Returning 250cc contenders like David Vuillemin, 250cc rookies Travis Pastrana, Nathan Ramsey and Ernesto Fonseca, 250cc Sophomore Stephane Roncada, Ezra Lusk, Tim Ferry, Mike LaRocco, 7-time Supercross champ Jeremy McGrath, Kevin Windham, Sebastien Tortelli, and defending champ Ricky Carmichael battle it out for the 2002 250cc EA Sports Supercross Championship. This is Travis Pastrana's, Ernesto Fonseca's, and Nathan Ramsey's rookie Supercross seasons. Watch 250cc heat #2 as Frenchmen David Vuillemin and Stephane Roncada collide in a right hand turn before the final rhythm section, which results in Vuillemin putting Roncada in the tuffblocks; at the end of the race, Roncada, who still managed to qualify for the main finishing in 4th (to Vuillemin's 2nd) got his helmet slapped by Vuillemin; in the end, the AMA fined Vuillemin $2000, but allowed him to race the main event. Yamaha's Jeremy Mcgrath earns his first podium of the 2002 season with a 3rd place. Travis Pastrana pulls out of the main event due to a deadly case of the flu, which results in him skipping the opening ceremonies and an autograph session. To make matters worse for Team Suzuki, Kevin Windham injures his femur in practice after attempting to quadruple twice through a rhythm section, which begins a long vacation for K-Dub until Glen Helen 2003. Honda privateer Heath Voss #41 finishes a season-high 6th place.
Enjoy.
