2002 Daytona EA Sports 250cc Supercross Championship Round 9 of 16 (125cc East Round 4 of 7) Part 1
This is part 1 of round 9 of the 2002 EA Sports 250cc AMA Supercross Championship and round 4 of the 2002 EA Sports 125cc East AMA Supercross Championship from Daytona International Speedway in Daytona, FL. This is the 4th of only 9 250cc Supercross races from 2002 that I have.
Returning 250cc contenders like David Vuillemin, 250cc rookies Travis Pastrana, Nathan Ramsey and Ernesto Fonseca, 250cc sophomore Stephane Roncada, Ezra Lusk, Tim Ferry, Mike LaRocco, 7-time Supercross champ Jeremy McGrath, Kevin Windham, Sebastien Tortelli, and defending champ Ricky Carmichael battle it out for the 2002 EA Sports 250cc AMA Supercross Championship. This is Travis Pastrana's, Ernesto Fonseca's, and Nathan Ramsey's rookie Supercross seasons. Points leader David Vuillemin skips this race due to a shoulder injury sustained during a photo shoot. Watch a news section from booth host Dave Despain of all the accidents some of the road racers sustained from the Thursday to Saturday (the day of the Daytona race). Travis Pastrana pulls out of the race (and eventually, the Supercross season) due to dizziness and later faints on his motorcycle after a relatively strong start to his rookie 250cc season. Commentators are Brian Drebber, Rick Johnson, and pit reporters Jamie Little and Greg White.
Returning 125cc contenders like 2001 125cc MX champ Mike Brown, Yamaha of Troy rookie Chad Reed, 5-time Arenacross champ Buddy Antunez, 125cc sophomores Grant Langston and Steve Boniface, Branden Jesseman, Greg Schnell, 1998 West champ John Dowd, Larry Ward, Kelly Smith, Michael Byrne, Ryan Clark, and others battle it out for the 2002 EA Sports 125cc East AMA Supercross Championship. This is Chad Reed's rookie (and lone) 125cc Supercross season, which he dominates almost the entire one. 125cc West riders Billy Laninovich and Andrew Short jump over to the 125cc East for experience and track time since they are not in the top 10 in the 125cc West points. Chad Reed ties Ernesto Fonseca's 1999 record of 4 straight wins to start a 125cc Supercross season.
Enjoy.
