2002 Houston EA Sports 125cc West AMA Supercross Championship (Round 6 of 8)
This is round 6 of the 2002 EA Sports 125cc West AMA Supercross Championship from the Astrodome in Houston, TX. This is the 2nd of only 9 125cc Supercross races from 2002 that I have.
Returning 125cc contenders like 2001 Houston 125cc winner Travis Preston, rookies Billy Laninovich, James Stewart, Jr., and Shane Bess, Andrew Short, Matt Walker, Chris Gosselaar, Brock Sellards, 2000 Phoenix 125cc winner Casey Lytle, Ivan Tedesco, Danny Smith, David Pingree, Justin Buckelew, and others battle it out for the 2002 EA Sports 125cc West AMA Supercross Championship. This is James Stewart, Jr.'s rookie Supercross season. James Stewart's chances for a Supercross title in his rookie year continue to crumble in this race with a 10th place finish (after injuring his right foot in practice, but rebounding by setting a 1:05 -- the fastest lap of the 125cc class). Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Matt Walker wins his one and only Supercross of his 8-year 125cc career. Fellow Pro Circuit rider and new French import Eric Sorby races in America for the very first time and podiums in his career (after getting a call from Team Yamaha's David Vuillemin). This is the last race held in the Astrodome, for it would be torn down to make way for the new Reliant Stadium for 2003 and beyond.
Enjoy.
