2002 St. Louis EA Sports 125cc East AMA Supercross Championship (Round 6 of 7)
This is round 6 of the 2002 EA Sports 125cc East AMA Supercross Championship from the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, MO. This is the 8th of only 9 125cc Supercross races from 2002 that I have.
Returning 125cc contenders like 2001 125cc MX champ Mike Brown, Yamaha of Troy rookie Chad Reed, 5-time Arenacross champ Buddy Antunez, 125cc Sophomores Grant Langston and Steve Boniface, Branden Jesseman, Greg Schnell, 1998 West champ John Dowd, Larry Ward, Kelly Smith, Michael Byrne, Ryan Clark, and others battle it out for the 2002 EA Sports 125cc East AMA Supercross Championship. This is Chad Reed's rookie (and lone) 125cc Supercross season, which he dominates almost the entire one. This race is well known for Grant Langston and Larry Ward colliding in the main event after Ward cased a double jump, and Langston had nowhere to go, knocking both riders out of the race, and Yamaha 125cc privateers Kelly Smith and Ryan Clark colliding on the very next lap while the yellow flags were waving. Kelly Smith would return to the race, and would finish with an 18th place. Chad Reed ties Damon Huffman's 1995 record of consecutive 125cc Supercross wins to start a season with 6, and clinches the 125cc East Championship after Mike Brown finishes a disappointing 14th and a lap down in the main event.
Enjoy.
