2009 Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open of Supercross Night #2
This is Night #2 of the 2009 Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open of Supercross from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. This is the unexpected final U.S. Open after 12 consecutive years of competition (going back to 1998).
Returning contenders like Ryan Villopoto, Ivan Tedesco, Andrew Short, Supercross sophomore Josh Hill, Lites sophomore Dan Reardon, Supercross rookie Broc Hepler, and defending U.S. Open champ James Stewart battle it out for cold hard cash, and preparation for Supercross 2010. This is the first time Ryan Villopoto races the U.S. Open, and his first race back after injuring his knee in 450cc moto #1 at Hangtown. Former Factory rider Ezra Lusk makes a comeback to race for the first time since Washougal 2004, and his first U.S. Open race since 2002. James Stewart goes for a record 3 U.S. Open of Supercross victories, which would tie him with the G.O.A.T., Ricky Carmichael ('00-'01, and '05). Commentators for the MMI Main Event are Jason Weigandt, Jim Holley, and pit reporter Erin Bates.
