2008 Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open of Supercross Night #2
This is Night #2 of the 2008 Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open of Supercross from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
Returning contenders like 2-time winner Chad Reed, 3rd year Lites competitor Ryan Dungey, 2006 winner James Stewart, Ivan Tedesco, Andrew Short, 450cc Supercross Sophomore Josh Hill, Lites Sophomore Dan Reardon, Michael Byrne, 450cc Supercross rookie Broc Hepler, and others battle it out for cold, hard cash, and preparation for Supercross 2009. Chad Reed races for the first time on a brand new Suzuki with the red #8 to honor a fallen rider in defending U.S. Open winner Grant Langston, who dropped out of the 2008 Supercross season due to a tumor in the back of his eye, which has forced him to put his racing career on hold. As a result, Grant would not return to racing until the 2010 Supercross season. James Stewart races for San Manuel Yamaha for the first time after his career on Kawasaki came to a sudden end, and they had released Chad Reed after winning the 2008 Supercross title. This race features a near race-long battle between James Stewart on his new Yamaha, and Chad Reed on his new Suzuki, only to end with Reed crashing into the Thor tuffblocks on lap 16. Commentators for the MMI Main Event are Jason Weigandt, Jim Holley, and pit reporter Sara Dayley.
This race also includes a Yamaha Legends Race between 2 old-school riders/rivals, "The Beast From The East" Damon Bradshaw and Jeff "Chicken" Matiasevich.
