This is a guide on how 2B's Assault mechanic works in Rising.

The TLDR is that she has 3 attack strings corresponding to her light, medium, and heavy normal buttons, that can be repeated up to 4 times. At any moment in the string, you can press another button and activate a finisher attack that ends the assault string. The finisher is determined by which two buttons you've pressed. So, Light into Medium and Medium into Light share the same finisher, etc. None of the finishers are special cancellable.

Light into Medium/Medium into Light seems like a safe way to end pressure with a little follow up mind game you can play by holding down the button.

Medium into Heavy/Heavy Into Medium is your most common combo ender as it restores 2 SKL bars on hit and leaves the opponent close to you on knockdown to continue offense.

Light into Heavy/Heavy into Light initiates a baseball minigame that's an homage to Nier Automata. If you get the timing right, 2B will launch a claw as a regular projectile that is + on block and wall bounces in the corner for a combo. This is the only Assault Change option that can frame trap, though the reward isn't great if you want to beat immediate mashing.
