a time line tutorial plus video of UV animation.

update July 26 2013
START
missing screen shot for track 4
Generated media Noise Texture
keyframe 2 at 10 seconds

Progress(in degrees)
7.400

the rest of keyframe 2 is the same as key frame 1

Track 2 blend mode X is Screen
Track 3 blend mode X is Multiply( Mask )

of course this keyframe 2
provides the UV animation

for less intense overall fog, adjust the video slider to 50 % ,
on the Track Controller , of track 2 the gradient track,

This fog has the qualtiy of "per - pixel" render .fog.
Some video game graphics can use a similar approach
to get per - pixel fog stuff, without using any excessive
pixel shaders in the GPU .

The trick is to make an empty parent track "1" to house
the 3 uv animation mapped textures of tracks
2 3 4 , then apply chroma key to track 1 and
set this chroma key to occure AFTER the child
tracks composite , by clicking the little arrow
on the chroma key applet , near the lower
left corner.

In additon, I selelected via pan\crop a small
portion of the uv animation and copy\pasted
this keyframe value to tracks 2 3 4 pan\crop.

Tthere is never any need to render out and
re-import some video segment. We could do it that
way, but it is nice to see how capable vegas is.

With simpler editors we would have to pre-render
our special effect segments and re-import the footage.

I did crop tracks 2 3 4 to select a particular
portion of the fog , I could have also choosen
to place this fog onto only a portion of the background,
say, near the floor\ground or in a door way.
In vegas, then maybe add some light rays for
more atmosphere.

Typically, we need a stack of images to get the effect
we want. A single animated cloud texture will not get
this kind of misty fog , hence I used 2 clouds with 1
gradient .

This is still a fairly simple vegas 2D composite .

I could have made a 32 bit alpha image of white
and animated it, but the cloud generated media
was a simpler approach.
