One if the most exciting things about new video games hardware is when you get to play new versions of beloved franchises like never before. you often get enhanced graphics, improved sound, better frame rates and more. Let's take a quick look at 3 amazing titles that were released for BOTH a current generation video game console and the previous generation hardware too.

Number 3
Dr. Mario
Originally on NES, RE-Released on SNES

Hot on the heels of the twist of Tetris, Dr Mario changed the drop puzzle game, and we were infested with colored viruses. This is I've if the best games for the NES, so when Nintendo ported it to the Game Boy and Super Nintendo it just made sense. Maintaining the same great gameplay, the Super Nintendo version provided enhanced graphics and audio. Oh, and Tetris was in the same cartridge too.

Number 2
Joe and Mac: Cavemen Ninja
Super Nintendo and Nintendo Entertainment System
I don't remember exactly which came out first, the SNES or NES version, but I do remember playing the SNES version first. This side-scrolling beat'em up is just silly fun. imagine my surprise when I discovered it was also on the Nes. And not only that but that it played great too! Sure, it was missing buttons on the controller, but the NES version looks and plays amazingly well, so things considered. I love the SNES version, and the NES version of Joe and Mac is awesome as well.

Number 1
Star Fox/Star Wing
Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64
The interesting thing about Star Fox (Star Wing in Europe) is that the first 2 games are darn near the same game! The Series premiered on the Super Nintendo and later was released on the Nintendo 64. The Later version was the N64 one, and it added voice acting, All-Range Mode, and more. I didn't notice that the N64 version was the same have until years later, but it's got so many quality of life improvements.

What games did you love that were on multiple generations of hardware? Let me know and share your favorites!
