Clanfolk is on it's way, and with a release date coming on the 1th of July, there's no time better than the present to have a look at 3 reasons it might be worth having a go at this life sim game. if you are enjoying any part of this video, we recommend subscribing to the channel and checking out the social links in the description to stay up to date with new release titles.
The first reason were going to delve into here is the genre. To put it simply, colony life sim games can be a whole lot of fun, and depending on your addictiveness levels, well, let's just say they can suck the hours out of you. Whilst clanfolk can definitely be linked to titles such as Going medieval and first feudal, the idea of being set within the Scottish highlands definitely gives it a bit of a point of difference in a genre that's pretty jam packed. For those who are new the to genre, get set for daily schedules, a whole lot of micromanaging and ensuring that you've got exactly what you need, otherwise the consequences can be quite grim. Indeed when looking through the trailers for Clanfolk, there seems to be a whole lot of burying happening, so definitely stock up on the food for winter. This is a game that is most definitely going to be challenging, but give you a whole lot of choice about how you want to plan your colony, and ensure the survival of your people.
The second reason we're looking at here is the unique aspect of generations within Clanfolk. Footage we have seen has shown children and babies out there working with the adults from within the clan, and despite some unusual names, watching these youngsters grow (hopefully) into productive members of your homestead is going to a great part of this game. You know those moments where you actually feel sad when one of the characters has passed away, and it's hitting you way too hard in the feels, be expecting that from clanfolk as you work your way from birth to death, through generations to keep that community going. There are visitors that will arrive from afar, but I'm focussing on the locals, and watching them grow and expand, hopefully surviving the fire, of which we have seen a whole lot of.
The last reason you should be checking out clansfolk comes down to the challenge, especially set within a seasons system. Different weather patterns, dangers and strategies are going to dictate the way you survive through the years. Each season will give you different means of producing and maintaining food, while the wet and colder parts of the year are definitely going to make it hard for you to keep everyone warm. Make some wrong turns, be expecting starving members of your community, and in a colony sim, do we really need to remind you that, it's uh, kind of a bad thing to happen? Despite all the grim possibilities, let's hope we see more weddings compared to funerals. Someone can hope right?!
