the usual calamitous hunt showdown game, but i was on the receiving end of most of the good luck. i probably lose 4 out of 5 solo games, and for the 1 i dont lose, some of those are just draws where i escape the map with no bounty.

other than adding a few supplies, like med kit, knife, etc., this was a free hunter. i actually like the romero (shotgun) combined with the hand crossbow. the romero is an absolute truck, but narrow in its use. the hand crossbow is very versatile and a good compliment.

i find that, when you dont take a rifle, you tend to be more responsible with your movement instead of always popping your head up to look for shots to take. rifles create fomo: "i dont want to miss a free kill, so i will expose myself to see if i can generate some offense." inevitably, there will be lots of free shots if you just look around from a high vantage point, but you will hit someone in the back, they will run behind a corner and heal, and all you really did was tax that team 1 med kit. the team now knows you are there, and your approximate location. would you give up your location just to tax the enemy team 1 med kit? not really a good trade, if you think about it.

using a shotgun forces you to wait until you really think you can finish the job, which, if you are in position, will result in a finished kill. in this game, a one hit kill is a great advantage. shooting a shotgun early and out of range signals weakness to the enemy player, and so you dont shoot until you have the advantage. if you show your cards, the enemy can outmaneuver you, especially outside.

anyway, this was a particularly good run, and i stole a better shotgun as an added bonus. even got a wallbang on the final kill, with compact ammo, no less.

with bounty darksight, i probably had the advantage against the last player, but just wanted to leave at that point. ive gagged away a few solo victories by lingering too long. hope he enjoyed the free bounty.
