40 Winks (PC) - MortaPlay [Part 6: Crusty Rusty Wreck and Underwater Boss]

Hi! Today, it’s going to be crusty! … Because we’re moving to the Crusty Rusty Wreck! Yes. And we’ll do the underwater boss too.
And this video is rusty too. I recorded it a second time because the first one was … well … a total wreck. My sense of humour fell into the ocean when I was a little boy. 🫠

To sum up, since my sense of direction is as effective as a moth encountering a light source, I got way too lost and missed some arguably obvious items, and I thus decided to start again, but better…
However, I didn’t make a save before this level, as I’m a complete buffoon, and so I did a second playthrough to come back to it! … On easy … ‘to do it faster’ … before realising that this choice is perpetually locked to a file from the beginning of the game, even though the option is in the settings…
And so you end up with the baby mode version of this episode and inconsistencies with the rest of the playthrough, because I wasn’t going to start a third time and trade three hours of my life for six views on YouTube. :P
You can see the difference in this part: the enemies have much less health, and a single hit or combo is enough to defeat them. So, at least you have a glimpse of what this difficulty is like.
Other than that, the bulk of this level takes place in a vast underwater area around a sunken ship, and inside said vessel for the land phases.
There, we have to find four blue keys and three Winks. It’s not a bad experience despite its premise, even if several sections are a bit labyrinthine due to repetitive visuals, and a few jumps are complicated by opponents who can shoot at you.
As for the Underwater Boss, it pits us against Threadbear in a large robotic crab with homing missiles and pincers working like Mr Skops in Rayman … and with other crustaceans all around him… Yes, I love it when a game puts the most enjoyable enemies together in one room! 🙃
To defeat him, you have to circle him until he’s dizzy, then hit his cockpit … six times … and he falls for the exact same trick every attempt… Finally, a worthy opponent to my intelligence! :D
Just don’t be a stupid fool like the guy who made this video, and attack *while jumping*; otherwise you’ll bounce around like a ball in a pinball machine, except that the flippers are crab pincers! :)
Now that’s done and Threadbear has lost a few bits, we can head to the space world! Don’t worry about the following episodes; I’ve made multiple save files so I won’t have a big messy situation again!
