Here's a fun & shortlist of reasons why I've decided to return and stick with openSUSE Leap 15 after years of distro-hopping.

OpenSUSE was the second Linux distribution I ever used. The first distro was Fedora but I had lots of issues with it and I hated Gnome 2 so I didn't stick with it.

OpenSUSE uses KDE Plasma as their primary desktop and the branding was and is stellar: it made me want to use it. OpenSUSE also has Tumbleweed for folks who want an Arch-Like rolling release, rather than a static release cycle like Ubuntu.

Lots of developers from SUSE hack and support openSUSE but from what understand, they do so as a community effort, not because they are trying to further the goals of the parent company (in contrast to Fedora).

I think of OpenSUSE Leap as a sane version of Centos. They are very similar in that OpenSUSE is sort of the community offering of SUSE enterprise, however it's not a full-blown clone and has a spirit of its own.

It's impossible to use OpenSUSE and not use Yast. In my opinion, Yast is THE best tool on Linux. It helps to make all the powerful commands and in-built tools for Linux accessible to users who do not want to become intimate with the command line. And to the best of my knowledge, no other distro has this.
