6 Features Coming to Tesla Version 10 | My Thoughts
92Tesla will be releasing version 10 later this month, or if it is delayed, next month in September. In this video I look at 6 features coming to the next major Tesla software release. I also provide my opinion for
1. Netflix & YouTube Streaming: "ability to stream YouTube & Netflix when car is stopped coming to your Tesla soon! Has an amazingly immersive, cinematic feel due to the comfy seats & surround sound audio.” - Elon Musk. I personally think these will be separate apps that only work when you are in parked, similar to the Tesla Arcade. I also think you will need to be connected to WIFI. Youtube and Netflix are huge data consumers.
2. Stop Sign & Traffic Light Recognition: Tesla is introducing an improvement in Autopilot’s ability to recognize stop signs and traffic lights. Tesla has been running this feature in “shadow mode” This means they compare what Autopilot would do to what the driver does in the real world. I would like to see it appear on the screen, at least to start.
3. Enhanced Summon: allows you to summon your Tesla to your location within around 150 feet of where you parked. I personally think Smart Summon will be the single biggest marketing feature to date for Tesla. If the update is delayed, I blame Smart Summon.
4. Text Messages: there will be an option to have your text messages read aloud as well as respond, or at least with quick reply options. I hope this feature will come with voice reply support.
5. Joe Mode: will decrease the sound your Tesla makes when it executes an auto lane correction. Good for sleeping babies in the back.
6. More Games: We know the game "Cuphead" is coming. When Cuphead arrives, there will be other games too such as Minecraft and Roblox. Cuphead will definitely be the next big game title added. It uses a game engine called Unity. Musk said "Unity port is done, so [we’re] finessing the controls now. Mostly limited by local storage. Will allow additional game storage via USB. Whatever’s most fun!” It is great that they will use storage via USB. Maybe opting for a SSD would be the way to go. This also means that with Unity support there will be more games coming in the future.
