2Following the successful rescue of Gendarmerie [Sgt.] Bari and the wealth of information this provides, as well as our discovery that the cartel appears to be backed by unknown Russian actors, it appears our work on Tanoa is far from over. The Gendarmerie have requested our assistance in uprooting the remnants of the cartel, from their mules, traffickers and soldiers to the dizzying heights of their leadership structure. While we recognise that simply removing the head will not necessarily kill this snake, the aim of this operation is to bring an end to the cartel’s reign while concurrently investigating their foreign sponsors.
One would expect that, following our last operation, the cartel would begin to conduct more discreet business. However, we believe they are trying to spin our absence over the past 48 hours as a win on their part. In an unexpected turn of events, they have ramped up their operations with many of their soldiers being sent to control and defend strategic positions for their business. These positions include the Blue Pearl Industrial Port and Bala Airstrip, both of which we believe are being used to conduct logistics and transportation of products to nearby islands, or maybe further afield. Their local dealers have done the same, continuing to distribute narcotics in many of the major towns and cities.
In response, we seek to assault and secure the port and airstrip, capturing and questioning their respective site managers who are now suspected of being on the cartel’s payroll. In addition, we will be hunting down a number of suspected cartel dealers in order to gain any information possible on the cartel’s leadership structure and their whereabouts. This includes Aleks Kava, known locally as ‘l'épouvantail’ (‘the scarecrow’), who is an Eastern-European mercenary currently working with the cartel.
