7th Saga - Cart - Ultra Low Level Run - Part 4: Killing Literally Nothing
In this segment I explore the northern side of the continent. This is often known as the "branching paths" part of the game, because the scenario plays out according to your main character. I could have went with either Lux or Valsu's path here, but it doesn't make a real difference for this particular run. This video consists of 20 segments.
As the title of the video suggests, I don't kill a single enemy throughout this entire segment.
0:37 I make the run from Patrof to Bone. The addition of the Star Rune makes this significantly easier than the run from Guntz to Patrof was.
7:26 After grabbing the Ring, I make the nightmarish run from Pandam to Pang. Because of the high occurrence rate of Mutants and the number of narrow passages you get locked into, this took me several hours to finally accomplish. The second Defeat battle here goes disastrously, but after that I make a miraculous run the rest of the way, making up for the loss of Valsu (who was unlikely to survive all the way to Pang regardless).
Once I reach Pang, it's worth remembering that there are 7 hidden Potion 2s lying around here. My intent is to come back at some point when I have a hard stretch of the game and run low on Potion 2s, but that hasn't happened yet by the end of this video. Also upon reaching Pang a 5000G reward can be claimed in Guntz.
12:15 I make the journey from Pang to Belaine. This is a bit easier than the previous run because of a lower encounter rate for Mutants.
14:27 I make the run from Belaine to Telaine, then backtrack to an A. Seed I forgot in Pang. Fortunately I haven't made any challenging runs since then, so no harm here.
16:10 I make the trek from Belaine to Dowaine. This is another difficult one but incredibly rewarding, as here I can get the Cloak of Fire. Now Valsu has top-end gear for the Present portion of the game, with absolutely no gold ever spent on armor. If I were so inclined I could also go purchase the Mura in Brush, making a very potent set for Valsu. Since I don't need his physical attack, I'll just wait for a free SwordSW later.
20:55 I make the trek to Padal. I say a brief hello to Kamil, one of the original party members for this low-level run. I could have talked to Prosa at this point but hadn't yet decided which Moon Rune scenario I was going with for this run. Instead I just grab Padal's hidden Recovery.
22:00 I warp back to Pandam and then travel cleanly to Brush. Brush is worth remembering because it sells Potion 3s, though a better place to acquire them is the boy in Dowaine if you have some patience.
I then warp back to Pang as it has an excellent item shop, selling all four types of Bottles as well as both Mirrors and Vacuums.
26:40 I make the trip from Brush to TIffana. The King here offers me a 5000G reward for saving the princess (which I'll pick up later), and I loot the castle's chests for some decent gear to sell. I get a little lost in Tiffana's halls because I'm going from memory and this isn't a particularly memorable area of the game.
30:37 I launch a short assault on the Castle of Baran to retrieve the Cloak of Ice. This isn't necessary yet, but I like gathering all of the rare hidden gear as soon as I hit the north.
34:37 I make the run to Bilthem. Once here I make a dash to the Amulet. This is normally the best accessory in the game for a long time. I don't equip it now because I'm relying too much on reflected enemy Petrifies, which the Amulet will prevent.
41:00 I re-enter Baran for an I.Seed. Counterintuitively, I give this to Lux for the magic defense.
46:26 I make the voyage to Polasu. I wasn't sure if I was going to even visit Polasu in this run, since it's optional if you do the Moon Rune scenario right. However, at some point I'll need to dive into Grime Tower for seeds. Without Olvan, that makes Polasu somewhat necessary for its proximity to the North Tower.
51:09 I travel through the Cave east of Telaine to reach Luze. I should have put the Amulet on here, as it's kryptonite for Sages. I do that for the next two trips, wherein I gather the two seeds the Cave has to offer.
