This video starts with the march to kill Serpent in Baran Castle. This is primarily because I have Lux and Valsu at perfect XP values where they won't level up. Bear in mind that I'm not finished looting the Cave East of Telaine and will be returning at some point for the K.Tricks in there.

The path to Serpent is maybe the hardest run to a boss in the entire game. Valsu can be killed by almost anything in here on a bad turn combination, running is extremely difficult, and Baran is particularly treacherous to navigate, having multiple rooms that are likely to trigger multiple fights. I was only able to reach Serpent about once every 3 hours. This would have been made easier if Valsu had known Agility.

4:20 I arrive at Serpent. The strategy here is relatively simple. I have Lux tank her ice magic until she's out of MP, then resurrect Valsu with an M.Water and defeat her. Without her magic she's not very dangerous. In this run I forgot to switch Valsu to the Robe of Ice, which in theory could have saved me a M.Water. In practice, however, Serpent casts Blizzard so many times that I have never seen Valsu make it to the end of the fight. She can still kill Valsu on a high roll, so the lack of the Robe of Ice likely wasn't much of a hindrance.

It's worth mentioning that at this point I've become pretty familiar with the enemy turn counter, so I know what move Serpent is going to perform on each turn.

Serpent consumes all of my Mirrors, making this fight more costly than it needed to be. However in part 7 I will gain access to the best option in the game to make extra money.

14:00 Serpent falls. Afterward I loot Baran, top Valsu's XP off, then collect a few items I left laying around from earlier parts of the game. It's important not to forget the free Sapphire left where you killed Serpent, especially on a run like this where Gold is so constrained.

19:03 I collect the the 5000G reward from the King of Tiffana for beating Serpent, followed by the Moon Rune from Prosa.

24:05 Valsu gains level 12, learning Agility. With the Star and Moon Runes I now have access to free Defense and Power usable by either character, while Valsu can finally apply Agility for MP instead of Bottles, which I can restore with the Sky Rune. This is a good position to be in, and will make random encounters less costly Gold-wise until I lose the Runes.

25:04 Lux reaches level 14.

26:00 I enter Bilthem Castle to collect the Star.

30:15 I deliberately get Lux's MP drained so Doros can't MPCatcher him, then buy a few extra Harps for leeway on the Doros battle (this turns out to not be necessary).

33:20 Now things get a bit interesting. To beat Doros as low level as I'm attempting, I need to start him on his Turn 28. This will cause him to waste all of his MP on Vacuums and never perform a Fireball spell, so long as he never lands a successful MPCatcher. To set this up, I use the enemies around Bonro to waste 27 turns on the global turn counter. Keep in mind this only works because--even though it doesn't show in this video due to editing--I did a hard reset of the cart after my last save. To protect against MPCatcher, Valsu has the Amulet and Lux has no MP.

35:40 Because I already have Doros prepped to start on the perfect turn, I need to get through all of Bilthem without any enemy performing an action. This is quite hard. I could have tried to set the turn cycle lower, like 26 or so, and then hoped to get the exact right number of turns burned in Bilthem, but that wasn't working out to have a better success rate in practice.

38:19 Beating Doros at level 14/12, no F.Shield. This battle costs me 2 Harps and a single M.Water. All in all a pretty cheap Doros encounter, because of the lack of using any Potions. It should have been even cheaper if any of my 3 Revives had landed. Very frustrating.

53:23 Doros finally falls. You can tell by the extreme length of this battle that I'm really starting to push the game's limits at this point. With Doros gone and the Light Rune in tow, I loot out what's left in Bilthem.
