Jesus, the Master Teacher, understands not just what we need to hear but how our heart's "soil" needs to be postured in order to receive the "seed", which he says is the message of the Kingdom. So, he tells the parable of the sower and the seed. But what happens next, is what helps us understand just how strategic Jesus' teaching methods are. We discover the parable isn't just another story thrown out with a few others. As the disciples raise a valid question... they begin to see that's he's opened up a well-known Jewish tool for teaching... which gives the whole chapter a greater weight and focus.
