#888 Soul Blade (PS1) Unplayable Characters (7/8): Belti playthrough.
A playthrough of the unplayable character Belti/Vercci in the PS1 port of Namco’s Soul Blade/Edge.
Belti was an avaricious Italian weapons merchant, and the master of Voldo. He makes Voldo search for Soul Edge simply to add it to his collection, and at the threat of his fortunes being ceased decides to build himself a mausoleum to house his riches in secret, even having Voldo kill the sailors who built it and then make himself seal himself inside the tomb to protect it. Yeah, he’s a real piece of work.
Belti appears as a ghostly apparition in Voldo’s ending, although whether he’s real or simply a figment of Voldo’s imagination is anyone’s guess. Gameplay-wise he uses Cervantes’ moveset, although as a result of his invisible weapons it ends up looking like he’s fencing, which I thought was relatively interesting. This is the only (vaguely) playable appearance of Belti in the entire series, so like most of these unplayable vids it is rather special. Belti’s “money pit” would actually appear as Voldo’s stage in future Soul games, too. He’s also known as Belti here, despite technically being called Vercci in the rest of the series. Given that this is the only playable appearance of side-character, it’s certainly interesting. A shame he wasn’t at least fightable in Edge Master Mode or something of the sort.
