This and three other (identical) spirits are fought as part of Komachi's recruitment quest. Unlike the other recruitment bosses, these spirits aren't a complete pushover. They're not super dangerous, but you will need actual preparation since this boss uses DTH effects.

DTH protection is available via Ring of Hades. If you have the Zodiac Stone from the Disgusting Malice boss on 1F, you can also give that to Remilia or other SPI-weak characters to massively boost their SPI affinity (this is so she doesn't die Invitation to Death and Flux of Yomotsu Hirasaka's SPI damage).

In terms of attacking, avoid Marisa and Rumia (the boss has more MND than DEF. It also has very high MYS affinity). The only element this Soul is weak to is SPI (confusingly enough), but your only SPI attackers are Reimu (who is not an attacker and uses composite spells anyway) and Yuugi (strong, but her SPI move is the weakest in her arsenal). Better to stick to non-elemental, physical attackers like Chen, Youmu and also Yuugi. Patchouli is also usable thanks to Silent Selene's MND piercing. Wriggle's PSN is also an option.

Character Build:

Komachi: Going with the HP build. Anyway, Komachi actually didn't change a whole lot between games, but she still feels very different thanks to the systems unique to each game. Her high HP is unique in a game that has permanent level bonuses and no Gems or Boosts. Her Confines of Avici spell is also slightly different. LOT1 Avici debuffs everything but attacking stats, it also inflicts PSN vs. LOT2 Avici debuffing all stats (but with a weaker effect) and inflicting TRR and DTH but not PSN.

Avici feels more useful in this game, even though it can't inflict ATK and MAG debuffs. It's basically down to how LOT1 handles debuff resistance. There is just one "general debuff resistance" stat, while the sequel has five different resistances for each ailment (ATK, DEF, MAG, MND and SPD). What this means is that "shotgun debuffs" like Avici (or Reisen's Discarder) are better against high debuff resistant enemies, because you're likely to land AT LEAST 1 debuff.

Characters with debuffs like Alice, who target one stat at a time, can still be useful, but it'll be in situations where a boss' debuff resistance is 0 (or close to it). If the boss has any debuff resistance, however, better to stick to Komachi, Reisen and other shotgun debuffers.

Confines of Avici is a great move in randoms, and it's great in bosses weak to ailments, though a few bosses do have mechanics to counter debuffs (like Kaguya in the 12F Eientei fight, Great Stamp on 15F or Mokou in her recruitment fight). I do think Komachi falls off eventually (I distinctly remember substituting her for Meiling during the Plus Disk Eiki fight), but she still fares better than her LOT2 counterpart (who stops being useful as soon as Main Game ends, and is extremely middling overall).
