You can tell, just from the length of this video, that this version of Youmu is an actual challenge (unlike her tutorial fight in LOT2). Youmu (and her Ghost Half) is your first proper introduction to this game's brutal group boss fights.

Youmu's Ghost Half can inflict PSN on your front row, can inflict PAR on one character (in any slot), can buff Youmu's ATK (while lowering her defenses) or can hit you with a simple CLD AOE.

Youmu herself can use regular Attack, Present Life Slash (a single target attack), Flashing Cherry Blossoms (a physical NTR AOE) or Focus into God's Slash of Karma Wind (a powerful, physical WND AOE).

When either Youmu or her spirit half are left, their movesets slightly change. Youmu's Ghost Half will use Freezing WND (a stronger CLD AOE). Youmu will start to use Slash of Eternity (which is a single target nuke) and will favor her other personal skills.

While Youmu's Ghost Half seems easier to deal with, it's much harder to kill it first since Youmu has almost 3x as much HP as the Ghost Half. The Ghost Half is also more dangerous, just because it's early game and you don't have the resources (either the equipment or the MP) to really survive the Ghost Half's disabling tactics.

You don't even have a full party at this point, so all I can really say is "make good use of the characters you have".

In this video, Youmu ended up taking forever to die. Not sure if it was because I took her on under leveled, or because of my character build decisions. The only offensive character who I was properly min-maxing was Patchouli (and Cirno, I guess. She's not really an attacker though). Marisa, Chen and Sakuya were all doing their own thing (aka not putting their bonuses into their main attacking stat).

Thankfully, Wriggle (and her PSN) are available right after this boss, so damage won't be a long term problem.

Other Tips:

-If you didn't upgrade everybody's CLD affinity for the Cirno fight, I strongly suggest doing it now. You might also want to increase NTR and WND to protect against Youmu's nukes. Do it at least for Marisa, who has sub-100 affinities for both elements.

-I also recommend giving Minoriko the Frozen Frog item, so that she doesn't die when the Ghost Half uses it's CLD AOE.

Character Build:

-Youmu: LOT1 Youmu laughs at LOT2 Youmu. LOT2 Youmu has to wait until the Plus Disk content in LOT2 to be good. LOT1 Youmu, on the other hand, was my WND nuker in my last LOT1 playthrough. Her formulas are crazy in LOT1. Slash of Eternity is like 750% ATK - 150% DEF. It murders anything with low DEF. Go for a full ATK build.

-Wriggle: Another character who is very similar and very mid in both games. Her main gimmick is PSN but unlike LOT2 Wriggle, you can't even see how effective her PSN is thanks to LOT1's lack of health bars. Last time, I tried a MND build for her. I vaguely remember her putting in slot 1 for the Eientei fight. I also vaguely remember Eirin annihilating her with Galaxy In A Pot. I decided to just go with a DEF build, since that's how I usually run her. That might have been a mistake, since I forgot about her higher HP growth.
